Just five days left for you to help design Liverpool’s new iconic art work

THERE is less than a week left for Daily Post readers to help design an iconic sculpture that will sit inside the new Museum of Liverpool.

You are invited to name those people you feel best represent the city in fields including the arts, music and sport. The results of the survey will be passed to artists Inge Panneels and Jeffrey Sarmiento, who will then interpret them into the art work.

Made of 17 layers of fused glass, the Liverpool Map aims to provide a cultural snapshot of the city in 2008. The final section will feature photographs of the figures who win the Daily Post vote.

When completed, it will stand in the northern panoramic window of the new Museum of Liverpool.

The art work was commissioned as one of four legacy projects for 2007/2008 by Open Culture, the organisation set up by Phil Redmond to give the public a say in Liverpool’s Capital of Culture celebrations.

The online vote closes on Sunday. To take part, visit the Daily Post’s website at http://bit.ly/theliverpoolmap
