Daily Post Arts Editor’s Pick of the Day: Monday June 1, 2009

THEATRE: Liverpool writer Laurence Wilson brings his latest play Lost Monsters to the Everyman. Set in an isolated house, surrounded on all sides by a motorway, it stars Joe McGann and Shameless’s Rebecca Ryan. Three runaways seek refuge in the house of a recluse who is terrified by the world outside.Everyman Theatre until June 13, tickets £12-£14, 0151 709 4776.

THEATRE: City taxi driver and writer John Evans is staging four one-act plays tonight including the hard-hitting Voices, set in the 1920s where teenager Francis is shortly to be hanged for the murder of his paedophile uncle. A Brother’s Love, The Ciggie Run and A Land Fit For Heroes! make up the quartet. The Casa, Hope Street, entry is by donation.

EXHIBITION: Highlighting the remarkable achievements of Merseyside artists from across the years, The Beat Goes On explores the different cultural and musical traditions within the region and its vibrant music and club scenes.World Museum Liverpool, until November 1.
