Robot artist exhibition is being staged in Liverpool

ROBOCOP, Star Wars’ C-3PO and Metal Mickey all left their mark on popular culture and now another android is hoping to inspire the masses . . . this time to get involved in art.

Optimus Wayne – a painting robot – will be taking part in a groundbreaking live art demonstration in Liverpool where his artistic masterpieces are set to draw in the crowds.

North-west artists James Diable and Wayne Hill are behind the move.

They want to use the robot as a tool to create art and explore the idea of art being placed in the hands of a detached machine.

The audience will also be given a chance to create their own paintings with the robot at the demonstration.

The robot is operated using various pressure pads which can be manipulated by the operator to paint canvas.

Artworks created on the day will be available for the audience to take home, made by themselves or the artists.
