GRAFFITI artist Andy Prior is creating a new portrait of the Fab Four to coincide with Beatles Day on Friday.
He will be based in Cavern Walks, working on a canvas measuring 7m by 3m, to produce a “funky and contemporary” image.
Visitors to the boutique shopping centre will be able to can watch him at work on the ground floor, between the two cafes Lucy in the Sky and Chantilly.
The finished picture will then be installed in Mathew Street shopping centre.
Liverpool audiences may remember Prior’s portrait of Roger Waters at the Australian Pink Floyd gig at last year’s Summer Pops.
In 2004, he put his own unique slant on a coffee machine in Piccolino’s Italian restaurant, on Cook Street, as part of the Liverpool Biennial festival’s Art in Bars programme.
As well as marking Beatles Day, the event will help celebrate Cavern Walks’ 25th anniversary.
Launched last year, Beatles Day culminates with a concert at the Echo Arena, with acts including the Backbeat Beatles, Swinging Blue Jeans,
The Merseybeats, Shack, Connie Lush and Ian Broudie.
