Internationally renowned African Children’s Choir to play the Liverpool Lighthouse

THE internationally renowned African Children’s Choir is playing a gig at the Liverpool Lighthouse next week as part of its British tour.

The highly sought-after group has performed at many prestigious venues, including The Royal Albert Hall, Madison Square Gardens, Carnegie Hall and the White House.

Its 23 members from Nkomazi, South Africa, are all aged between seven and 10. Many of them have suffered the legacy of disease, poverty, war and famine, often losing family members.

Founded by human rights activist Ray Barnett after a trip to Uganda in 1984, the choir is celebrating its jubilee year and has previously performed with Paul McCartney.

The concert takes place at the Liverpool Lighthouse, the UK’s first dedicated urban gospel arts centre, in Anfield, on July 17. Tickets £6 (£3 concs) from 0151 476 2342.
