MUSIC: Leonard Cohen’s 2008 World Tour proved to be one of the year’s hottest tickets. The sold-out concerts wowed arenas, opera houses, festivals and Edinburgh Castle. Tonight, Cohen, above, comes to Liverpool in the most popular show of the Summer Pops.Echo Arena, sold out.

CLASSICAL: Romanian-born Alexandra Dariescu gave her debut at the age of nine, since studying at the Royal Northern College of Music. THEATRE: Penned by Dave Kirby and Nicky Allt (who is currently enjoying a near sell-out run of One Night in Istanbul at the Empire), Brick Up the Mersey Tunnels is a homegrown comedy that has been a major hit for the Royal Court.
