Ricky Tomlinson joins young people on stage at the Unity Theatre

RICKY TOMLINSON will be joining young people on stage at the Unity Theatre tonight for the Diverse Performs project.

The comedian will lead half an hour of stand-up performed by new comedians from the city’s YMCA and the Comedy Trust.

The initiative, run by youth project Clapperboard UK, The Reader Organisation, Diverse Magazine and the Unity, gives local talent the opportunity to perform in front of an audience in a range of disciplines including poetry, rap, short stories, comedy and song.

Writer Frank Cottrell Boyce, actors Tina Malone and Christine Tremarco, and writers Marc Gee and Peter Grant have also been involved in the project.

Admission is free. Contact Colin Farrell forwardculture@hotmail.co.uk or call 07804 811 886 to book a place.

Clapperboard Youth Film-making Project was founded four years ago to make films on youth issues such as gun, knife and gang culture.
