Collage courses for eager families at Liverpool Novas Contemporary Urban Centre

TATE artists past and present will be hosting family workshops this week around the theme of home and studio.

As part of its Decomposition exhibition at the Novas Contemporary Urban Centre, artists collective Soup will be hosting four craft events, and they’ll kick off with Jackie Kerr’s mapping workshop, on August 22.

She’ll help visitors create 2-D images of their home or favourite dwelling using collage and drawing materials, to be put in a larger piece containing everyone’s work.

Ceramist Louise Waller will invite visitors to select one of her old pots, “improve it” with paint and take it home (£2), then artist Sue Sharples transfers drawings and designs using the old paper piercing techniques.

Children who love making collages will be drawn to artist Alice Roberts’s event with her treasure trove of materials.

McGarry Room, fifth floor. Runs Aug 20-30. Go to www. novasscarman.org for more details.
