Tatton Park calls for artists to take part in 2010 Biennial

TATTON Park Biennial is holding a series of Open Competitions to choose the artists who will take part in next year’s event.

The inaugural Biennial, which took place in the summer of 2008, saw nearly 30 artists, performers and writers develop new works for the Cheshire country park, to critical and public acclaim.

Tatton Park Biennial 2010 will take a site-specific theme of “Framing Identity”, exploring our association with place.

Artists will be commissioned in three ways, by curator’s appointment, peer recommendation from leading organisations and via two Open Competitions.

The first contest is open to those who have recently completed formal training and are either currently living or working in Cheshire or are originally from the county, and the second is for those in the North-West.

Curator Danielle Arnaud, a member of the judging panel, says: “This is just one of the ways the Biennial is positioning itself as a unique event.”

Those selected will be awarded a £5,500 budget. Details at www.tattonparkbiennial.org
