CLASSICAL: The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra kicks off its autumn/winter season with a nod to conductor Vasily Petrenko’s, above, heritage. The Russian Soul concert features Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No3 and Shostakovich’s Symphony No10, with Simon Trpceski as the piano soloist. THEATRE: The first musical ever written by Sir Andew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, The Likes of Us, is the story of Dr Thomas Barnardo and his crusade to rescue children living on the streets of 19th-century London.The Brindley, Runcorn, until September 12, tickets £12, 0151 907 8360.
