LIVERPOOL’S art galleries and museums will keep their doors open for an entire night next week. Visitors are even invited to take along their sleeping bags to a special film screening – just one event in the second annual Long Night.
Visitors on September 24 will be able to take part in activities and view exhibitions and performances across the city until breakfast the following morning.
Long Night is held in conjunction with the Abandon Normal Devices Festival of new cinema and digital culture, taking place at various venues across Liverpool from September 23-27.
Mike Stubbs, FACT director and AND co-organiser, says: “After the massive success of last year’s Long Night, it’s fantastic to see an even longer list of Liverpool’s venues and galleries working together to create an exciting evening of after dark activity across the city.”
A Foundation, on Greenland Street, has planned a 24-hour programme, which includes music and dancing until 2am, all-night cinema and a non-stop interview involving more than 70 artists, curators, musicians and insomniacs.
Former poet Andrew Motion will be reading his work at the Bluecoat, as part of the Liverpool Poetry Cafe series.
The Walker art gallery is open until 10.30pm with atmospheric DJ sets, live music and poetry from pop act Malcontents and guitar-based duo the Hushtones.
