Daily Post Arts Editor’s Pick of the Day: Wednesday September 30

ART: Chester’s Rod Cox, went to Gaza in March to work with schoolchildren who were using art to express their experiences and their hopes for the future, above. The result is Loss of Innocence, a moving exhibition back in Liverpool. The works are accompanied by a video of the children talking about their traumatic experiences.Liverpool Cathedral until October 6, www.liverpoolcathedral.org.uk

EXHIBITION: Dave McKean’s stunning illustrations for the Liverpool Reads book, The Savage, above, are on display at the Bluecoat. McKean has worked with best-selling fantasy writer Neil Gaiman and was an artist on the Harry Potter movies.The Bluecoat until October 31.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Former Daily Post picture editor Stephen Shakeshaft documented the mood, major events, celebrities and politicians of the city for more than 30 years. In The exhibition, Liverpool People, above, he turns his eye to those who have helped create the city’s identity.National Conservation Centre until January 24.
