Rita Tushingham to present A Taste of Honey at FACT

RITA TUSHINGHAM is the next in a long list of Liverpool stars to take part in a Clapperboard Presents event.

The actress, who grew up in Garston, will be hosting a screening of the film that made her name, A Taste of Honey, at FACT on October 20.

It will raise money for the Clapperboard youth film project.

Tushingham began her career at the Liverpool Playhouse.

Her film debut, at the age of 18, was in Shelagh Delaney’s 1961 film, winning her a British Academy Award for Best Newcomer.

She says: “I think it’s very important that young people get involved in creating something wonderful as it can open up a whole new world for them.

“The whole process of film-making, from script to screen, stimulates their creativity and they can discover things that they may not have known they are capable of.”

TICKETS £10 (concs £7) from FACT’s box office on 08717 042063.
