PRODUCERS of Twopence to Cross the Mersey are planning to create a sequel to the hit musical, currently playing at the Liverpool Empire.
The new show, which will focus on another of Helen Forrester’s autobiographies, should be completed by 2011.
Writer and producer Rob Fennah says: “There are four books covering Helen Forrester’s autobiography; Twopence to Cross the Mersey, Liverpool Miss, By the Waters of Liverpool and Lime Street at Two.
“Our current show covers Helen’s early life when she and her family first arrived in Liverpool.
“Lime Street at Two will pick up the story in 1940 when Helen is working as a social worker in Liverpool during the war years.”
The producers say the move has been prompted by the box office success of Twopence to Cross the Mersey, which has now made £2m.
TWOPENCE to Cross the Mersey is at the Empire until Saturday.
