IT’S the Scapegoat, but not as William Holman Hunt envisioned his 1856 painting.
Instead of a scraggy old animal with a gnarly horns, it’s a cuddly lamb with a bow on its head.
This reworked Pre-Raphaelite is just one of the images submitted to National Museums Liverpool’s online Flickr group, which is calling for people to create their own versions of the famous works in its collections.
So far, participants have posed as 18th- century landed gentry, swapped Stubbs’s horses for toy ponies, and have even got their pets involved.
The project, called Credit Crunch Art, aims to encourage people to take a fresh look at the galleries’ works and create something of their own. There’s still time to produce your own pictures, which you can post alongside images of the originals taken from NML’s website.
