ART: Two for the price of one in Joyous Machines as the works of Jean Tinguely, one of the most radical, inventive and subversive sculptors of the mid 20th-century, are exhibited next to British artist Michael Landy’s, above, responses to them. ART: Dave McKean’s stunning illustrations for the Liverpool Reads book, The Savage, are on display at the Bluecoat. McKean has worked with best-selling fantasy writer Neil Gaiman, on Coraline and the Sandman graphic novels, and was an artist on the Harry Potter movies. The Savage is by award-winning author David Almond.The Bluecoat until October 31.

PHOTOGRAPHY: Former Daily Post picture editor Stephen Shakeshaft documents the mood, major events, celebrities and politicians of the city for more than 30 years in the exhibition Liverpool People.National Conservation Centre until January 24.
