BALLET: As if a traditional performance of Giselle, above, wasn’t enough of a treat, English National Ballet has turned tonight’s show into a double whammy. The new short work, Men Y Men, will start the evening’s proceedings off before the stage is set for the main piece.Empire Theatre until November 1, tickets £8-£35.

THEATRE: Last few nights of The Caretaker starring Everyman old boy Jonathan Pryce in a play you can’t get out of your head, even weeks after seeing it. Fantastic acting, a seminal script and more props than you can imagine.The Everyman until October 31, tickets £10-£20, 0151 709 4776.

FILM: The 1923 film Salome, based on Oscar Wilde’s play, has been given a new soundscape for a series of special screenings. Charlie Barber’s new score is performed live by four percussionists on scaffolding towers either side of the screen.
