CAST members from Spike Milligan’s Adolf Hitler: My Part In His Downfall took to a World War Two tank to celebrate the touring production’s arrival at the Liverpool Playhouse.
The high-octane, music-filled comedy is based on the late Goon’s memoirs of his time as a soldier in the war from training camp to the desert of Africa and the invasion of Italy.
Packed with Milligan moments, the show – starring Sholto Morgan as Spike – runs at the Williamson Square theatre until Saturday.
It follows Gunner Milligan and his ad hoc jazz quartet follow the tide of great historic events.
Adapted for the stage by Ben Power and Tim Carroll using Milligan’s own words, the story shows how humour, music and comradeship enabled young men to prevail against the Nazi war machine.
