Anastacia _460
WITH her distinctive voice and belting back catalogue, Anastacia puts on a show to remember.
Add to that the phenomenal Chaka Khan and the legend that is Lulu, and Here Come the Girls promises to lift the roof off the Philharmonic Hall.
“I am so excited about doing the show in Liverpool,” gushes Anastacia.
“I came to the MTV Awards last year and I had a ball. The city is awesome and I couldn’t wait to come back.”
So Anastacia and her two pals will be in town this months with a rip-roaring musical celebration.
“I can only describe it as a soundtrack of people’s lives,” explains Anastacia.
“It’s not our individual shows – we don’t each do our own sets at all. We might sing one or two of our own songs, but mostly we’re singing songs we find inspirational.
“It frees us up to be able to do what we want to do.
“I’ll be singing songs that have moved me in the bad times and the happy times of my life.
“I’ve had some real struggles and music has always got me through.”
Six years ago, Anastacia was diagnosed with breast cancer during a routine mammogram. She successfully completed surgery and radiotherapy, and then established the Anastacia Fund to promote awareness of breast cancer among younger women.
“I think women can be great inspirations to each other,” she says.
“When I feel down I go to my girl friends for strength. And that’s what I want people to take from this show.
“I want women to bring their mothers and sisters and friends to celebrate that bonds we all have.
“But men are very welcome too. We won’t be turning them away at the door.”
The concert was the brainchild of Lulu. She then called upon two of the most recognisable voices in the business, to join her in the evening of music and dance.
“I was approached by Lulu,” explains Anastacia. “She wanted to do something that involved other female artists.
“She’d already asked Chaka Khan and it sounded exciting, so we got together.
“There was undeniable chemistry, so we got to work.
“It’s been so much fun to put together.
The extravaganza promises high-octane, high camp songs, centred on the three superstar voices – each with their own unique sense of style, humour and musical heritage.
“We’ll be celebrating all that it means to be a woman – the laughter, the lost loves and the true loves, the yearning, the celebrating, friendship and family – the show mixes great music, laughter, tears, glamour, joy with bit of mischief for good measure.
“I warn you, you will sing along and we defy anyone not to dance.
“I'm super excited to be part of Here Come the Girls.
“It’s going to be such a fun show with tons of surprises and fabulous music.
“I’ve long been an admirer of both Lulu and Chaka Khan so its a dream come true to be touring with them and to be part of a show as unique and special as this.”
Here Come the Girls is at the Philharmonic Hall on Tuesday NovemberŠ24.
