Necklace inspired by a bridge in Seacombe is part of Transformations exhibition at the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum

A NECKPIECE inspired by the handrail and rivets on the bridge at Seacombe is on show in an exhibition of jewellery, sculpture, and art work at the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum, in Birkenhead.

The collection of traditional and contemporary work was created by part-time students and staff on the 2007/9 BTEC Art and Design Course, at Wirral Metropolitan College.

The pieces include jewellery created from silver, gold, copper, titanium, plastic, paper and polymer clay, and sculpture including wooden goat, a ceramic corset and a bumble bee.

Paintings, collage, drawings and glass are also on display.

To fit in with Liverpool’s Year of the Environment, many of the pieces are made from recycled materials, such as metal from scrap- yards, driftwood, circuit boards and sweet wrappers.

TRANSFORMATIONS runs until December 24.
