BIG Wow’s The Friendship Experiment is a schizophrenic, foul- mouthed, puerile romp.
But do go and see it.
Tim Lynskey and Matt Rutter play themselves, as well as the characters Jeff and Steve.
In what is purportedly an experiment in improvised theatre, the two actors try to tell the story of two friends who get reacquainted after being driven apart.
Hopping farce-style in and out of character and wearing identical outfits, they reveal their own friendship along the way.
In the double act, Matt is the willing foil to Tim’s straight guy, eventually driving him into a frenzy.
Having reached the end of his tether, Tim screams at Matt: “Everything we do transgresses into some knockabout comedy b------s.”
While I couldn’t agree more, for much of the action you could swap that last naughty word for “gold”.
We also learn the duo did not appreciate being likened to the Chuckle Brothers by a previous reviewer.
There’s little doubt Aunty’s guidelines would weed out the pair and their potty mouths from making it onto kiddies’ telly.
