YE CRACKE pub is gaining a reputation for supporting local artists with a series of exhibitions showcasing their work.
This time round, it is presenting a mixture of original paintings and photographs alongside prints in the show, Northern Songs.
Named after the Beatles’ publishing company, the title also reflects the pub’s location on Rice Street, near to the Hope Street cultural quarter, and its long history of art student regulars.
The exhibition features the work of Mick Gill, David Hynes, Martin Lloyd, Alison Little, Matthew Dolan, Colin Serjent, Nick Jones, Micheline Robinson, Paul Francis, David Smith, and Tony Kennedy, whose Blue Lennon image is above.
It is open seven days per week during the pub’s usual opening hours of 12pm to 11pm through the week and later at weekends.
Built as a public house in the 19th century, Ye Cracke is reported to have been a regular haunt of John and Cynthia Lennon while they were studying at art school.
