SATIRICAL cabaret act Fascinating Aida are performing at the Floral Pavilion, New Brighton, tonight, after a successful Christmas season in New York.
Described as “Absolutely Fabulous meets Noel Coward, as sung by the Andrew Sisters”, the all-female trio was founded in 1983 by Olivier-award nominated Irish actress Dillie Keane.
Since then cast members have come and gone, and the group has hung up its sequins twice. But it seems nothing can stop Fascinating Aida from, well, fascinating audiences – New Brighton is just one stop on their UK tour. In this incarnation of the 25-year-old show, Keane, with writing partner Adele Anderson and singer Liza Pulman, will be sticking the satirical stiletto into Health & Safety, D-list celebs and Gordon Brown.
They will also have a go at explaining modern finance, extolling the joys of al fresco sex, and wondering whether global warming means we’ll all have to move to the Shetlands.
