Chester Philharmonic celebrates 125th birthday with Cathedral concert

CHESTER Philharmonic will be celebrating its 125th anniversary with a performance of Ralph Vaughan-Williams’s Sinfonia Antarctica, narrated version by Stephen Threlfall, musical director of Chetham’s Music School.

The festivities, at Chester Cathedral on March 6, will open with Elgar’s Concert Overture In the South, followed by Mozart’s Oboe Concerto in C Major.

The soloist will be 17-year-old Chloe Greenwood, who has recently been named as a woodwind finalist in this year’s BBC Young Musician of the Year competition.

The concert will also feature the Chester Bach Singers and the operatic soprano Diana Palmerston.
