Folksinger Kate Rusby booked to play Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall

MERCURY Prize-nominated British folk star Kate Rusby is returning to the Philharmonic Hall with new band line-up and material.

The Barnsley Nightingale is planning a concert that has “something for everyone”, she says.

“Old songs, new songs, old songs with new tunes, new songs with old tunes, tunes, sad songs, happy songs,” she continues.

“They can expect guitars, banjos, basses, accordions, tenor guitars, chatting, laughing, fairy lights, dresses, suits and the list goes on.

“We are recording a new album at the moment so there will be some songs from that, and some of the songs will be from my very first album that we recorded many moons ago now. ”

The defining voice of contemporary English folk music, Rusby’s interpretations of traditional songs and finely wrought self-penned tunes have won her an audience that reaches beyond the genre.

She will be joined by Damien O’Kane (anjo, vocals, guitar, tenor guitar), Andrew Seward (double bass), Malcolm Stitt (guitar, bouzouki and other stringed things) and Julian Sutton (melodeon).

“The Phil is always a great gig so I’m really looking forward to visiting again,” adds Rusby.
