Photographic exhibition opens at The Gallery

EYE-catching images taken by professional and amateur photographers feature in The Gallery’s latest exhibition.

Featuring a wide range of subjects, including an escalator in Liverpool One, Sefton Park Palm House, Liverpool Cathedral and local musicians, they highlight the city’s thriving photographic scene.

Francesco Mellina, whose pictures of the acts at legendary punk club Eric’s, on Mathew Street, were shown at the Conservation Centre last year, will be revealing more of his work.

Stephanie de Leng, whose provocative exhibition Body Landscapes, was The Gallery’s opening show last October, has also provided images, as has well-known Liverpool music photographer Mark McNulty.

“The Gallery’s ethos has always been to showcase homegrown talent so the exhibition includes work by amateur photographers as well as professionals,” says Fiona, who runs The Gallery.

“The response has been great because we’ve got such an interesting variety of work – musicians, landscapes and cityscapes.”

The other photographers featured are Charlie Charlton, right, Charlotte Bird, Jenny Allanson, Jim Connolly, John Grieve, Ken Lewis, Jan Rogerson, Mary Fitzpatrick, Claire Freeman, Billy Wilson, David Wilson and Pete Carr.

All works are for sale.

The Stanhope Street gallery is located opposite the Brewery Tap pub, near Cains Brewery.

Photographic Exhibition is at The Gallery until April 3. Further details at www.thegalleryliverpool.co.uk. Opening Times Tuesday-Saturday, 10.30am-4.30pm.

Viewings by appointment can be arranged.
