Liverpool theatre group Impropriety perform 33 hour non-stop show at Kazimier

A GROUP of actors will perform non-stop for 2,010 minutes this weekend without any rehearsal or script.

Impropriety are putting on an “improvathon” that will see a total of 35 performers take to the stage for 33½ hours.

Trevor Fleming, co-founder of the Liverpool- based company, said: “It’s going to start at 1pm tomorrow and will last all the way through until Sunday at 10.30pm. The performance will be divided into 17 two-hour blocks, with 20 people performing in each block at any one time.

“The show is called The Last Resort, and it’s set in a holiday camp in the 1950s. There’s very much a Hi-de-Hi! theme to it, with dopey dinner ladies, an over-ambitious manager and an evil overseas developer.

“There is a director for each segment and each time a new one starts the characters will introduce themselves and tell the audience a bit about themselves and what’s happened so far, so the audience know what’s taking place.

“Everything is completely improvised, all the songs and dramas, there is no script whatsoever. The challenge is to keep the story going throughout the whole thing, so something mentioned in the first block will be mentioned in the 17th.It’s not just a theatrical experience, but a philosophical experience as well. It’s quite life changing to see people go through this kind of show.”
