Mark Bruce Company brings startling new show Love and War to Liverpool’s Black-E

ACCLAIMED dance producers The Mark Bruce Company is bringing its startling new show to the Black-E.

Love and War uses the theatre-in-the-round to plunge the audience’s imagination into a raw arena of the otherworld with a diverse soundtrack that includes Sparklehorse, The White Stripes, Queens of the Stone Age and György Ligeti.

The show is a surreal portrayal of motifs of the opposing forces of love and war through the ages.

“It’s been a very complex piece to make, because the subjects we’re dealing with are quite archetypal and they manifest themselves throughout the ages,” says award-winning choreographer Mark Bruce.

“We’ve been looking at how those themes govern our behaviour. It’s about where our everyday lives meet the other world, what some people would call the dream world, and there’s also a circus feel to it.”

LOVE and War is at the Black-E, Liverpool, on Friday, May 14. Tickets £7 (£5 concs) from 0151 709 5109.
