Connie Fisher to star as Maria Von Trapp in the Sound of Music at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre

CONNIE FISHER is to play Maria Von Trapp in the musical The Sound of Music when it tours to the Liverpool Empire in October.

Winner of the BBC 1 talent show, How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria, she will perform alongside Michael Praed (Robin of Sherwood) as Captain Von Trapp and soprano Marilyn Hill Smith as Mother Abbess.

Fisher won a lastminute.com People’s Choice Theatre Award in 2007 for her portrayal of Maria in the West End.

Its score includes the musical favourites My Favourite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Climb Ev’ry Mountain, The Lonely Goatherd and of course the title song.

THE Sound of Music is at the Liverpool Empire October 12-30. Fisher is expected to be in all performances excluding Mon evenings, October 13 matinee and October 20 and 27 evenings.
