Review: Status Quo at the ECHO Arena, Liverpool (GALLERY)

STATUS Quo have spent more than seven and a half years in the British Singles Chart since they formed in 1967 and their ECHO Arena performance demonstrated why.

The relentless energy, especially of original band members Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt, is astounding.

As if on pogo sticks they bounce, skip, stride and, of course, lunge around the stage – as only Quo can.

After 43 years of rock they show no signs of slowing down and it’s obvious why they won the PRS (Performing Right Society) hardest-working band award the past two years.

Performing with 16 huge white speakers, a monster drum kit, keyboards and a host of guitars, Quo powered out their hits.

What You're Proposing, In the Army Now and The Oriental made it onto the set list as did slower number Living on an Island, which Rossi recalls Parfitt writing “not far from here”.

Other tales include Rossi’s childhood holidays visiting his nan in Crosby and a funny story involving the ECHO Arena’s backstage toilets.
