Theatre company The Suitcase Ensemble looking for local people to create arts project at Metal

THEATRE company The Suitcase Ensemble is looking for 20 local people to take part in a new arts project.

Sound Tracks is an opportunity for people with an interest in drama, music, dance, design or puppetry, regardless of experience or qualifications, to learn new artistic skills over 12 weekly evening sessions. They will also create an original performance premiered at Metal.

Based around the theme of “new journeys”, the project is aimed at anyone aged 18-plus who is living in the Picton, Kensington and Fairfield, Central, Princes Park, Greenbank and Wavertree wards, and is free to attend.

Andrew Gledhill, one of Suitcase Ensemble’s artists, says: “We want to put together a group with a range of backgrounds and experience, from a young adult interested in drama to someone in their 50s who has maybe always wanted to have a go at music.

“That’s why we’re working with the theme of ‘new journeys’– the project is about trying something new, and also using the arts to explore the things in life which can hold us back.”

Sound Tracks will initially run for 12 weeks on Monday evenings from September to November at Metal, the arts centre based at Edge Hill Station. For further details visit www.suitcase-ensemble.com, e-mail tessa@suitcase-ensemble.com or call 0151 707 2277 or 07916 920415.
