Creamfields preview: The club can’t handle David Guetta

THERE is no getting away from David Guetta. In the space of just seven years he has gone from little-known French DJ to international megastardom.

One of the most in demand producers on the planet – Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Rowlands, Kelis, Estelle and Akon are just a few of the artists he has produced – he is also a multi-platinum selling artist in his own right with four chart-topping albums.

Last week he landed his fifth number one with Flo Rider’s Club Can’t Handle Me track.

So when it came to booking headliners for this year’s Creamfields the Parisian was a no-brainer.

“Creamfields is always amazing,” says Guetta.

“I know already how crazy it’s going to be as I’ve played at quite a few Creamfields in the past but now I’m headlining the main stage I don’t even want to think about how crazy it’s going to be.”

Crazy would sum up Guetta’s appearance at last year’s festival.

The 42-year-old was playing the 10,000 capacity Cream tent but demand to see him was so high the arena had to be closed down temporarily.

“That was crazy, the moment they told me I couldn’t play I was so frustrated but at the same time, after 30 minutes when they said I could play, I knew what was going to happen and after the first kick it was already going off, it was amazing.”
