Dave, Stan and Tony Evans launch joint exhibition Brothers in Art at The Gallery Liverpool

THE latest exhibition at The Gallery Liverpool is a family affair, with three brothers showing their work together.

They are Dave, Stan and Tony Evans, all originally from Wavertree, who have followed very different paths in life yet are united by their love of art.

Unique sculptures by Tony, the youngest brother, including a life-size orangutan and a liver bird, will be on display alongside paintings by the other two.

Formerly an insurance agent, he began practising art seriously after retirement, taking courses at Liverpool Community College before completing a fine art degree.

Dave, the oldest brother, held the post of artistic director for Littlewoods Mail Order, where his duties included overseeing photoshoots.

Middle brother Stan worked for the Inland Revenue before becoming a tax advisor for a local accountants.

He too took up art again after retirement.

The Gallery will be taking part in Thursday’s Long Night event, when cultural venues across the city will be keeping their doors open beyond their usual operating hours.

Visitors will be welcome from 7pm to 2am, with a bar and live music.

The venue will also be celebrating its first anniversary.

BROTHERS in Art is at The Gallery, Stanhope Street, until November 25.
