Cinderella Jamie Rickers as Buttons and Jenny Jones
IT’S quite a strange experience meeting a grown man whose biography describes him as “outrageously adorable”.
What to expect? Will he be sucking his thumb, conversing in baby talk and bursting into The Good Ship Lollipop at odd moments?
Fortunately, in real life, Jamie Rickers is a very regular bloke.
Sure, he’s a regular bloke with a huge fanbase under the age of 12 – a household name to people with kids yet barely known by those without.
The children’s TV presenter also has three Judo gold medals, has conducted Britain’s largest film orchestra and runs his own production company.
But, even so, he is very down-to-earth and, fortunately, not at all saccharine.
“I grew up with Tiswas and Chris Tarrant and when I was six that looked great fun – throwing custard pies at people is every boy’s dream,” says Rickers, who is starring as Buttons in the Floral Pavilion’s panto, Cinderella.
