Pop star Matt Willis _158
MATT WILLIS – party animal, former drug addict and friend to Amy Winehouse – is feeling homesick.
He is two days into the tour of stage musical Footloose, and he is already missing his family.
Things have changed since he sold out Wembley Stadium 11 times as a member of boy band Busted.
“If I’m honest, this is the last thing I needed right now but I’ve got about eight weeks of this tour and then I get to hang out with them,” says 27-year-old Willis, who married TV presenter Emma Griffiths in 2008. The couple’s daughter, Isabella, will be two in June.
“I don’t really like being away. I used to thrive on tour back in the band days, but now I’m definitely 100% a homebody.”
His priorities have changed in other ways, too. He now has to choose jobs according to whether they will pay the bills, rather than because they seem like a fun thing to do.
“Before, I wouldn’t have done anything I didn’t want to do,” he explains. “I was very carefree but I’m not so much any more.
“I’m very aware of a plan and what I need to be doing to pay this without everything revolving around money, which it doesn’t, because if it did I wouldn’t mind the fact that I’m on tour right now, but I do.”
