Paddy McGuinness comes to the Liverpool ECHO Arena ... but would he sooner be Down Under?

Paddy McGuinness

Who is he? Bolton comedian and TV presenter Patrick Joseph McGuinness, known as Paddy.

What is he famous for? It used to be for being Peter Kay’s best mate and sidekick in shows like Phoenix Nights and Max And Paddy’s Road To Nowhere, but now it’s as host of Saturday night dating show Take Me Out.

Distinguishing features? It’s got to be that Bolton accent, and his telly catchphrase ‘no likey, no lighty’ (you have to be there).

Career high? Apart from his projects with Peter and his own successful stand-up tours, Paddy starred alongside Jonathan Wilkes in the adult pantomime Panto's On Strike at Manchester’s Opera House in November when he was joined on stage by none other than Mr Robbie Williams.

Career low? Before hitting the big time, Paddy had lots of jobs including scraping dough off the kneading machine at Warburton's bread factory.

Significant others? He got engaged to former Miss Liverpool Christine Martin on Christmas Eve 2009 after they met at Liverpool International Tennis Tournament.

Not to be confused with? Vernon Kay (Bolton’s other famous prime time telly host).

He says? “Me and Christine both love staying in and watching telly with a Chinese takeaway. Our Sky Plus is a real mixture, because on my planner it’s Match Of The Day and Question Time and hers is all soaps and America’s Next Top Model.”

Interesting fact? Paddy would love to present I’m A Celebrity if Ant and Dec ever get bored. “You’re on holiday in Australia watching people eating kangaroo k****ers, having a laugh,” he says. “It’s brilliant.”

Paddy McGuinness plays the ECHO Arena on October 8.
