Liverpool's Sefton Park Palm House welcomes Whispering Bob Harris

VETERAN broadcaster Whispering Bob Harris will kick start Sefton Park Palm House’s 10th anniversary of reopening celebrations with a fundraising evening tomorrow.

In advance of his own Old Grey Whistle Test 40th anniversary, he will be returning to Liverpool for an evening of anecdotes and reminiscences accompanied by some of his favourite musicians from the area.

The audience can expect stories of his friendships with stars of the music world including John Lennon, Brian Wilson, Robert Plant, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Marc Bolan and Bruce Springsteen.

He will be supported at the event by singer-songwriter Ian Prowse of Amsterdam and Pele, Helen Maher on accordion, solo artist Andy Steele and Echo & the Bunnymen current member Jez Wing. Also appearing will be current LIPA student and singer-songwriter Caroline Ailin.

Born in Northamption, Harris began his career at BBC Radio 1 in 1970 where he hosted Sounds of the 70s. He has worked for Radio Luxembourg and BBC Radio 2 as well as various regional stations and is best known as the presenter of TV music show Old Grey Whistle Test.
