UPSTAIRS Downstairs actor Susan Penhaligon will lead an all-star cast in the Agatha Christie Theatre Company’s production of Verdict when it visits New Brighton next month.
She will be joined by Drop The Dead Donkey’s Robert Duncan, Matthew Lewis (Neville from the Harry Potter films), Elizabeth Power (EastEnders’ Christine Hewitt) and 60s pop idol Mark Wynter. First performed in 1958, Verdict is one of Christie’s few original plays not based on a novel or short story.
It premiered in the West End, running for 250 performances before going on to open in New York and Luxembourg.
The brilliant and idealistic Professor Karl Hendryk leads a morally-upstanding life, but his world is turned upside-down when the prospect of life-saving treatment for his invalid wife persuades him to take on a new pupil against his better judgment.
VERDICT is at the Floral Pavilion, New Brighton, from May 23-28.
