WORK by young people from the Wavertree Youth Offenders Team is on display at The Quarter, on Hope Street.
The Liverpool restaurant’s mini-exhibition includes a range of painting and photography created under the Arts Council’s national accreditation scheme.
Run in collaboration with youth training charity Unitas, the Youth Offending Service, the project gives the young people the chance to develop new skills and earn a qualification.
The national scheme, with Arts Award Accreditation, takes place every summer.
Artist Paul Jamieson, who has been working on the project since its inception four years ago, says: “The young people who first come on to the project are often resistant, and their attitudes can be chaotic.
“It takes time to get them to really buy into it but, when they do, the benefits of being in a positive environment and thinking creatively pay dividends to them but also to society.
“Following the recent riots that have taken over parts of the country, these kids have avoided any trouble because they’ve had a project they sincerely care about.”
