Liverpool Hope University students’ art on display in Virgin Trains’ Lime Street Station first class lounge
TRAVELLERS passing through Virgin Trains first class lounge in Lime Street Station can now brighten their wait by admiring art works created by local students.
Ceramic, silver and textile pieces by eight Liverpool Hope University undergraduates and Masters students are on display.
They include a 3m-long silk scarf by Kimberley Dunne, from Knotty Ash; a wooden bowl by Chris McVerry, from Waterloo; and a ceramic work by Roozbeh Rajaie, who is originally from Iran.
The showcase is part of the university’s partnership with Virgin Trains, which includes a piece of art by Hope graduate and freelance artist Sara Devereux-Ward being displayed on the high-speed City of Liverpool pendolino train.
Alan Whittaker, head of fine and applied arts, said the link enabled the university to promote itself through the talents of its students and graduates.
