NEW YORK’S Met opera is screening two of its productions to FACT’s Picturehouse cinema next month.
A revival of the acclaimed 2004 staging of Handel’s Rodelinda will be broadcast in HD on go live to cinemas on December 3, with a new production of Gounod’s Faust shown on December 10.
Starring Renée Fleming and Andreas Scholl, Rodelinda is a showcase for baroque virtuosity in a series of luxuriant da capo arias.
British conductor and Handel specialist Harry Bicket conducts.
In Faust, Jonas Kaufmann takes the title with René Pape as the devil and Marina Poplavskaya as Marguerite.
