Who is he? Easier to answer who he was – the youngest member of early-noughties boy band Busted. He’s now forging a solo career while taking time off from being lead singer of alternative rock band Fightstar.
What is he famous for? Selling more than 3m records and winning two Brit Awards as Busted’s lead guitarist and occasional drummer. With Fightstar, he has had five hit albums and his own solo release, Young Pilgrim, charted at number six.
Distinguishing features Bleached hair and a chiselled face decorated with a pair of thick, black eyebrows that teenage girls no doubt swoon over but could be compared to a couple of garden slugs.
Career high? Busted’s debut album, imaginatively entitled Busted, being certified triple platinum. As was their second, A Present for Everyone.
Career low? Something to look out for – he hasn’t messed up yet.
Significant others? His long-term girlfriend, Camilla Smith.
Interesting fact? Charlie joined Busted after answering an advert placed by Matt Willis and James Bourne in NME.
Not to be confused with? Bart Simpson, Mrs Simpson, although in fairness neither is very likely.
He says (of his time in Busted): “The music just wasn’t fulfilling me in any way. I have good memories of the time, because we were travelling the world and doing some amazing things."
CHARLIE SIMPSON plays the O2 Academy Liverpool on March 25, 2012. Call the box office on 0151 707 3200.
