Francesco Manacorda
TATE Liverpool have appointed Francesco Manacorda as their new artistic director.
Manacorda, the director of Turin's high profile Arissima fair of contemporary art, will take up his new post in April.
Previously a curator at London's Barbican Art Gallery, he is a visiting lecturer at the Royal College of Art and has curated at the Venice Bienniale.
Manacorda said, “Tate Liverpool has an amazing history combining cutting-edge programming with great art historical scholarship.
"I am delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the mission of such a leading international museum.
"I look forward to working with the excellent team in dialogue with other art institutions in the region.”
Manacorda is also a writer, having contributed reviews and features extensively to many art publications and has written a number of artists’ monographs.
Tate Liverpool executive director Andrea Nixon said: “We are delighted to welcome Francesco to the team at Tate Liverpool.
"We are very much looking forward to his artistic vision and experience contributing to shaping Tate Liverpool’s future programme.”
