Brit-hop duo Rizzle Kicks play the 02 Academy Liverpool in April

Who are they? Brit-hop duo from Brighton, made up of 19-year-old Jordan “Rizzle” Stephens and 20-year-old Harley “Sylvester” Alexander-Sule.

The two got together in 1996 when they used to play at Rizzle's auntie's house. They both ended up going to the Brit school and one day Rizzle got Sylvester to “lalala” over a track. Rizzle was just finishing off his own mix-tape, rapping over samples of some of their favourite artists (Gorillaz, Lily Allen, Arctic Monkeys, etc) when they officially became Rizzle Kicks.

What are they famous for? Probably for featuring on the number one single Heart Skips a Beat, by Olly Murs, last August.

Distinguishing features? Smiley faces and smart, cheeky lyrics. They favour the odd Mariachi horn, too.

Career high? Apart from the collaboration with Olly, their debut album Stereo Typical made the UK top 10 when it was released in October.

Career low? None really, although their debut single Prophet (Better Watch It), released in May, 2011, failed to trouble the charts.

Not to be confused with? Teenage Kicks, that was an Undertones song.

They say? “The fact that me and Harley are really good mates is hugely beneficial,” says Jordan. “The way our personalities work is like yin and yang. I think I’m a bit of a control freak and he knows that.”

Interesting fact? James Corden makes a cameo appearance in the video for their Fatboy Slim produced single Mama Do The Hump.

RIZZLE Kicks play the 02 Academy, Liverpool, on Saturday, April 28.
