THE deadline for entries to the John Moores Painting Prize has been extended to January 31.
Artists now have an extra 11 days to enter the £25,000 Walker Art Gallery-based competition, described as the “Oscar of the British painting world”.
The number of entrants last month was twice that over the same period in 2010.
Judges for this year’s contest include former Turner Prize nominees Fiona Banner, George Shaw and Angela de la Cruz, Whitechapel director Iwona Blazwick and BBC creative director Alan Yentob.
