Classical: Frank Cottrell Boyce to present a 20 Classical Greats concert at Philharmonic Hall for Jospice’s Golden Jubilee

FRANK COTTRELL BOYCE will present a concert of classical favourites to mark St Joseph’s Hospice’s 50th anniversary.

The Crosby-based author and screenwriter will host the event, which features the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir alongside soloists Kathryn Rudge, Ashley Holland, Paul Charles Clarke and Danielle Thomas.

The performance will be conducted by Prof Ian Tracey and will continue a tradition for the Thornton hospice.

Known locally as Jospice, the organisation marked its 25th birthday at the same venue, with music chosen by its founder Father Francis O’Leary.

Young soprano Rosa Mannion, who appeared at the event, returns 25 years later as musical director of the Golden Jubilee concert. The programme includes Verdi’s Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves, Handel’s Zadok the Priest and Halleluiah Chorus, concluding in Last Night of the Proms-style with Rule Britannia.

Funds raised will go towards Jospice’s work in caring for Merseyside people with terminal and life-limiting illnesses.

20 CLASSICAL Greats takes place at the Philharmonic Hall on February 4. Further details and tickets on 0151 709 3789.
