THE Threshold Festival of music, theatre and art will go ahead this year despite the closure of its venue.
Doubts were raised over the future of the weekend event when the Contemporary Urban Centre last year announced it was closing its doors.
Threshold’s organissers have worked with venues across Liverpool city centre to ensure the festival will go ahead.
Running from February 10-12, it will take place in Elevator Cafe, Camp and Furnace, the New Picket and the Scandinavian Church as well as other locations in the Baltic Triangle area.
Festival co-director Kaya Herstad Carney says: “We’ve been astonished by the reaction and support for the festival after the news of CUC Liverpool closing.
“Now more than ever it feels like an event truly rooted in the multi-arts community.”
Threshold launched in February 2011 as a festival under one roof, in a collaboration between Under the Influence and CUC.
Organisations involved this year include Liverpool-based Mellowtone, Rebel Soul, Newpath, Headspace, Antipop, Kin2Kin and CALM.
Also featured are Glastonbury favourites Chai Wallah, Scottish blues label Guardian Angels Records, Salford-based promoters Un-convention, Manchester contemporary art and creative writing group Blank Media Collective and alternative-folk event Imploding Inevitable Festival.
The event organsers are looking for volunteers to help run the festival.
THRESHOLD Festival takes place on February 10-12. Further details at www.thresholdfestival.co.uk
