TICKETS for all but three concerts in Southport’s Jazz on a Winter’s Weekend festival are now sold out.
Opening tomorrow at The Royal Clifton Hotel, the three-day event has built up an enthusiastic and loyal audience since its debut in 2005.
Still available are seats for Tyneside’s Zoe Gilby Quintet, Australia’s Brandon Allen’s sextet and Greg Abate’s American-Italian all star quintet, which has been put together especially for the festival.
Performing in a late show tomorrow night, Gilby has become one to watch on the UK jazz circuit for her impressive vocals. Her band will be playing a repertoire of classic jazz standards in their own individual way.
Allen’s band, which features alto sax Nigel Hitchcock and trombonist Mark Nightingale, will play their first gig outside London on Saturday, while Abate’s quintet will perform a bebop concert on Sunday.
