THEATRE PREVIEW: FuelFest at The Unity features Ring, Going Dark, Make Better Please and Black T-shirt Collection

A PLAY that takes place in total darkness is touring to The Unity as part of the venue’s experimental theatre festival.

Ring, created by Ben and Max Ringham, invites audience members to take a seat in a meeting where some of the participants seem strangely familiar.

A collaboration between The Unity and theatre producers Fuel, Fuelfest also features the latest creation from the team behind Kursk (Liverpool Everyman, 2010). Going Dark by Sound&Fury focuses on Max, the narrator at a planetarium whose job is to challenge visitors with the mysteries of the stars. But when his life takes an unexpected turn he discovers understanding the universe needs a different kind of vision.

Theatre company Uninvited Guests will create a show based on news stories from the day of the performance in Make Better Please, while Inua Ellams presents Black T-shirt Collection about two brothers building a global brand.

Graeme Phillips, Unity’s artistic director, says: “We know this work will excite, invigorate but also inspire our audience and friends to reimagine the possibilities theatre can present.”

FUELFEST runs from February 17 to March 10.
