Step into Liverpool’s history on film

THE North West Film Archive is presenting a Liverpool on Film night of archive footage at Woolton Picture House.

The screening on January 29 is a compilation of material from the past century.

Highlights include the chance to ride on the Overhead Railway in 1897 in Liverpool Scenes, the oldest known footage of the city, and step on board Cunard liners as they sail for Canada in 1923.

The archive’s service manager Marion Hewitt says: “This is a great opportunity for local people to enjoy an evening with a difference, and take a look at life in the past century.”
